We would like to have the scale on our graph vary according to the data.  How do we do this?

    Steps to Accomplish

You can vary the minimum and maximum on both the X and Y axes on your graph.  For our example, we will use a compaction graph and vary only the Y axis.

    1. In Report Design Graphs select the graph to modify.
    2. On the toolbar, click the Properties  button.
    3. Go to the Dependent Data tab.
    4. Delete the numbers in Minimum Value and Maximum Value.
    5. Doing just this will vary the scale according to the data plotted.  But it could look nicer.  (move line below up)
    6. You will notice the the largest and smallest values are on the edge of the grid.  It will look better if there is a gap at the top and bottom.  Also, the numbers along the side might look better rounded off.
    7. To insert a gap, enter a number in Axis Offset: Minimum Side and Axis Offset: Maximum Side.  This property will  remove the specified dimension (inches or millimeters, depending on the units of the report page) from the Data Frame.  We want a gap of 1/4" and entered 0.25 in both fields.
