After a longer summer break than planned, the team are back with the next of our Small Steps Series of Webinars. This time the team will be introducing a new type of template functionality that we will be releasing soon; Dynamic Log Templates.
Although the demand in the geotechnical industry is starting to shift away from traditional paper -based outputs, the fact remains that the borehole log is still a fundamental part of the geotechnical investigation process.
A great many of our customers have designed numerous borehole logs including minor changes, to enable them to show different information under different conditions. To help with this need, we developed the “Master Template” and “Strip Set” functionality to enable the ‘changing of columns’, ensuring that the number of borehole log designs are reduced and that only the bits that need to change between outputs are swapped in and out.
The next step in our journey to revolutionize the borehole log, is a dynamic log template. Dynamic Logs build on the idea of a master template, with different strip sets, by allowing users to define conditions on when to show different information. We will show you how to do this by setting up a dynamic log, which looks at the data in the project for that location, then shows the correct master template and the correct strip set to only show the data needed.
Dynamic logs have numerous different features, including the ability to expand and collapse columns within a strip set when there is no data available. They also build on the old combined template functionality, previously these used to ‘split across the page’ at the depth a drilling change took place, Dynamic logs can force a new page to start instead and show some, or all of the data as needed from the next or previous pages.
Lastly, the development team are hard at work on the final piece of the jigsaw for a fully dynamic template – the ability to show a different first page within your log compared to the rest of the pages.
With all the features mentioned above in place, the team will show you how you will be able to design more flexible templates capable of showing different information and graphics based on the underlying data.
