I am trying to open a hydraulic model using WaterGEMS V8i (SELECT Series 6) that was saved using the WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition, but it says that "Tho model you are trying to open was saved in a newer version and cannot be opened in this version". Could anyone help me to know how I could open it up or What Can I do?
Hello Fabian,
Once the model is saved in the higher version, it cannot be opened back directly in the lower version, as the software is not backward compatible.
However you can export the model from Connect Edition version into formats like EPANET or shapefiles and then import that into SS6 of WaterGEMS. Here is detailed information about the same, please go through it.
Can a model be saved down or back to an older version?

The following location has commonly used WaterGEMS and WaterCAD wikis: WaterGEMS and WaterCAD TechNotes and FAQs. Included here are all of the "What's New?" wikis for older versions of the product.

WaterGEMS V8i SELECTseries 6 includes Connection Client, but it is an older version of WaterGEMS compared to WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition. Because of updates and new features to the product, it is not possible open a model saved in WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition in an older version of the product, like V8i SELECTseries 6. The following link has more information on this: Error when opening model: "Unsupported datatype schema" "Object Reference" etc.
In order to open a model saved in the latest version, you should also download and install the same version. If that is not possible, there are some workarounds that you can try, as detailed in the link above.
WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition was first released in late 2016. However, a respin of WaterGEMS CONNECT Edition was released on 13 June 2017, and this is now available to download from the Software Downloads section of connect.bentley.com. This respin was released mainly for compatibility with the latest versions of AutoCAD and ArcGIS. More information on the respin can be found here.
