SewerGems V8i-Set minimum slope for first leg

I am working on a sanitary project.

Client asked me to consider" minimum grade of 1% for the first upstream leg" but other pipes can have minimum slope 0.5%.

how can I define that one in the SewerGems-V8i-SS4

Thanks

Hamid

  • Hi Hamid,

Here is what you need to do:

    1) Open your calculation options (Analysis > Calculation Options) then change the "Active Numerical Solver" to the 'GVF - Convex (SewerCAD)' and change the property for the "Calculation Type" to 'Design'.

    2) Create a selection set for whichever portion of your model has the least pipes, meaning that if the first upstream leg of your system has less pipes that the rest of the system then create the selection set for the first upstream leg. You can find directions for how to create a selection set from this wiki link:

    https://communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/how-to-create-a-selection-set

    3) Open your pipes flextable based on this selection set that you just created. This wiki entry located here describes how to do this using option 2.

    4) Then use the edit button at the top of the flextable to add a these columns to it: 1) Specify Local Pipe Constraints? 2) Slope (Minimum) 3) Slope (Maximum) 4) Design .

    5) Then use the directions in the wiki technote referenced in step 3 to globally edit the "Specify Local Pipe Constraints?" column, so it's set to 'True' (i.e. the checkbox in the global edit window has a checkmark in it). After you do this also global edit the  Slope (Minimum) and Slope (Maximum) fields to the values that you'd like. In your case the minimum slope would be set to 1%. All this step is doing is setting up this selection set of pipes that you have to use local pipe constraints for design. In the next step you're going to set up the design constraints for the rest of your system.

    6) Go to Components > Default Design Constraints and set the constraints here that you'd like to have for the rest of your pipes. If you need an explanation of what each property does you can use the help button in the lower right corner for a more detailed explanation.

    7) Run the model by either clicking the compute button, going to Analysis > Compute, or hitting F9

    I hope that helps,
