set start points of pipes as upstream side

Hi

Is there any way to set start points in all pipes as upstream side?

As default SewerGems assume the start point as its being laying out and if you lay out the network uphill start invert of pipe will be less than the stop invert.

I will be wonder if there is any way to start elevation in all pipes become more than stop elevation.

Because in the big network its a little bit easy to know: the start point of the pipes mean the upstream, not to mention when I want to create a shapefile from the network if some pipes have been laid out uphill and some downhill ,that shapefile will not correct.

Thanks

Hamid

  • Hello Hamid,

The following support solution has details on this:

    http://communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/10537.reversing-orientation-of-pipes-and-conduits-in-bulk

Basically, you would use ModelBuilder to fix the start and stop nodes of the conduits. Note that there is a results field called "Flow (Absolute)" which displays the absolute flow in the conduit, regardless of orientation. Positive and negative flow is strictly based on the start and stop nodes, so using Flow (Absolute) results could be another option.

    Scott
