SewerCAD Peak Factor

how can I present the peak flow " Extreme Flow" calculated  (the value at that particular location) in the output report "Flex Table" ? I guess we should be able to find out what is the calculated and multiplied value.

The client always asking about the base load and how the program calculates the extreme (peak) flow and what is the peak factor and needs to present those values in the report.

  • MO,

As you have discovered the extreme flow factor is not reported anywhere in the current version of SewerCAD, but this is something that has been requested before and is currently being considered for future versions. The enhancement # is 217921. I believe the difficulty in doing this is that you can have multiple different types of unit loads in a given model and each can have its own extreme flow factor method applied (via the extreme flow setup dialog). So, there may not be one single factor for a given element.

In the meantime if you have just a single extreme flow factor method, you can calculate the extreme flow factor at each point in the network by doing this:

    1. Run a steady state simulation without the extreme flow factors applied (for example make a EFF setup with all unit loads set to a constant 1.00)
    2. Copy the pipe flows (or manhole flow) from the flextable to a spreadsheet
    3. Compute the model again with the desired extreme flow factors
    4. Copy the flow column of the flexable to the spreadsheet
    5. Use a function to compute the extreme flow factor at each pipe by dividing the flow from the second run (with the extreme flow method applied) by the flow from the first run (with no extreme flow method applied).

  • MPachlhofer,
Actually; I am asking because I have multiple extreme flow factor method. when do you think the future release will be issued? and do you think the enhancement # 217921 will be implemented?

    Thank you..........MO.
  • Hello,

The SELECTseries 5 version of the storm and sewer products was just released in the last couple of days (a post about that is forthcoming), so it would be in some future release. The product managers review all enhancements though they are not all implemented. So, unfortunately there is no time table available for this enhancement.

    Regards,
