Civil 3D - Pipe Network Structure Swap not updating in Data Shortcut

I am trying to design a pipe network in Civil 3D 2013 with all the files stored on ProjectWise v8i (v. 08.11.11.590). I have one file ("Base File") that contains a TIN surface, alignment, and pipe network, and then there's another file ("Sheet File") with a data reference to the objects in the Base File. When I make an edit to the pipe network in the base file and then check the file back in & open the Sheet File, the edit appears in the Sheet File correctly, UNLESS the edit I made was swapping a part. For some reason, it doesn't seem that ProjectWise is recognizing the swapped parts as an edit right away, and they don't appear correctly in the Sheet File. I have found that if I delete the pipe network reference in the Sheet File and then create a new reference, it does correctly change whichever parts out, but then I lose all my object labels in the Sheet File and I have to start over. Is there a way to get ProjectWise to correctly update swapped pipe network parts in d-ref files without having to completely delete the reference?

Thanks to anyone with some guidance on this. Please let me know if there is a better forum to post this. I have submitted a support request but have not yet heard back and I'm hoping to have this resolved before the end of the week if possible. Thanks again <3
