Importing an Existing Project to WaterGEM for AutoCAD - Several Junctions Automatically Created

I've just gone through a process of clean uninstallation and re-installation of WaterGEM 08.11.05.61.

Problem 1 -  I keep seeing this for both standalone and WaterGEM for AutoCAD before and after the clean installation.

Some data (elevations, diameters, pump definitions) for newly created reservoir, pumps and pipes were erased once. I thought I did not save, so I made sure to save many times. But, the elevations of the reservoir and the junction next to the reservoir keep going back to zero.

Problem 2 - This happened after the clean installation. When I imported an existing project to WaterGEM for AutoCAD, I encountered a warning and could not run a scenario, which I could run without problem in standalone.  I found several junctions have been created automatically and they were not connected to the main WDS. Zoom in function somehow does not work in AutoCAD, so I have no idea where they are located. I simply inactivated them in Alternatives>Active Topology and the scenario runs fine.

This has been my headache and if there are ways to prevent both problems to keep happening, please let me know.

Thank you.

  • Hello Yoko,

    1. You mentioned that data is getting erased for some elements in the model like pump definitions, elevations etc., is it happening for a particular model or for all the models? Was it happening before the clean reinstallation? If it’s a model specific issue, then we would need a copy of your model for our review.

There are two options for sharing your model files on  Communities. If you would like the files to be visible to other members, compress the files into a zip file and upload them as an attachment using the ‘Advanced Reply editor’ before posting. If your data is confidential, you can follow the instructions in the link below to send it to us via Bentley Sharefile. Files uploaded to Sharefile can only be viewed by Bentley.

If you send the model, please post here so we know it is available.

    2. What is the version of AutoCAD which you have integrated with WaterGEMS 08.11.05.61? Have you applied the latest patch for WaterGEMS SS5? Did you happen to notice this before reinstallation? If not so , please try applying the latest patch for WaterGEMS , which you can download using the link mentioned link below. communities.bentley.com/.../8175.how-do-i-download-watergems-watercad-hammer-sewergems-sewercad-civilstorm-stormcad-pondpack-flowmaster-culvertmaster

  • Some additional thoughts:

Re: Problem #1 - it may be difficult to troubleshoot an issue like this without the steps taken to reproduce the issue. It could be related to a specific step in your workflow between when you make the change or lay out the elements, to when you see the problem in question. Including those steps along with the model (and/or a screen recording of the problem) would be helpful.

Re: Problem #2 - is it possible that you were looking at a different scenario in the AutoCAD integrated platform? (with a different active topology alternative?) Can you confirm that the model (same scenario) did not contain those elements? Having a copy of the model to reproduce would also help here.

  • Jesse,

I was not paying close attention to which scenario I made it current when I was making changes. Thank you so much for your reminder that I always need to pay attention to which scenario I'm working on- at this point, I cannot tell if that was the major cause , but I have not had any issues after I made changes in the base scenario.

    Thanks again.

  • Great, glad to hear it. Thanks for the feedback.
