SWMM Interface Files

I'm currently running a rather large model that has somewhat extensive hydrology, and I was looking at the option of using the SWMM interface files (rain file, runoff file, RDII file) to save the hydrological results so I don't have to rerun them every time I run the model.

In the calculation options I have it set to save the results for all 3 of these and have specified the file path, but after running it doesn't seem to save anything to this location. I'm assuming if I have it set to save it should save the results in the location I specify and then in future runs I can change this field to "use" to use the results that were previously calculated.

I can find very little information on these features for use in SewerGEMS. Do I have it set up right? Has anyone else encountered problems in using this feature?

Thanks,

David

  • I just realized I did not have the "Always Compute Hydrology" box checked, so the hydrology may not have been computing. But even when I ran it again it didn't fix my problem. There are still no interface files that get saved.

Is unchecking the "Always Compute Hydrology" box a good alternative to using the SWMM interface files? Under what circumstances will SewerGEMS still compute the hydrology even if the box isn't checked? If it doesn't re-run the hydrology it just takes the previous hydrology results and uses them to compute the routing/hydraulics?

    Thanks,
