*.stsw.mdb files appear to have been deleted!

Hi,

I have recently re-installed the most recent version of SewerGEMS V8i in an attempt to rectify problems with my licence syncing.

Following my reinstall, it appears .stsw.mdb have been deleted and my models can nolonger be opened. I am currently saving my models locally and it does not appear to be an issue with my company's server.

One particular model is quite important and is needed fairly soon, it would be devastating to have lost it. I still appear to have the rest of my other *.stsw files if that helps.

Is anyone able to assit?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

  • Apologies, my tags are confusing. I've installed the 32-bit version.
  • Hi Nick,

In the current version of SewerGEMS we use a SQLite file to store the data, not an MDB file. (We moved on from MDB files due to file size and performance limitations).

So look for a file with a .stsw.sqlite extension. If you have that, the files should open. If not, our support team will probably need to see some more details of any errors/messages you see when attempting to open.

One thing to remember is that the files aren't backwards compatible, meaning that they can't be opened in an older version if they were created or saved in a newer version. Is it possible that you didn't actually install the latest version of the software?

  • Hi Mal,

Thanks for the speedy reply. I do have .stsw.sqlite.01.bak files which is promising!

My error message occurs when I attempt to open the main sewerGEMS file for a project. It essentially quotes the file path and says "stsw.mdb could not be found". Is the safest way for me to create a new file and import the .sqlite file in?

I'm using SelectSERIES 3 so it should be the latest version.

    Kind regards,
    Nick
  • Hi Nick,

The latest version is actually SELECTseries 5 and we have been using SQLite files since SELECTseries 4, so it seems like you've had a more recent version than SELECTseries 3 installed at some stage.

Can you double check the most recent version that your organization is using? (It's best for all users in the organization to be on the same version).

Here's an article on restoring a .bak file if you need it: communities.bentley.com/.../8842

...but note that you still need to be using the same SewerGEMS version (or a newer one) as the version used to create the .bak file.

  • Thanks Mal, we appear to have been using an old install file internally...
