WaterGEMS for ArcMap Network Editing

I am working on a WaterGEMS model within the ArcMap version, and am having issues editing my pipe/junction network.   Tools like "merge nodes in close proximity" appear to be unavailable within the ArcMap version? Also, I am trying to disconnect a pipe from one junction and re-connect it to another junction without having to re-draw it.  Doesn't look like I can do that either?

  • Hi Kristen,

Yes, I am in an edit session and using the WaterGEMS selection tool.  Should I just be able to right click on a junction I want to merge and select "merge nodes in close proximity"?  When I right click on a junction with the WaterGEMS selection tool I get the ArcMap options and not the WaterGEMS editing options that I would expect in the stand alone WaterGEMS version.

Is it possible that I my version of WaterGEMS and ArcMap aren't compatible? My WaterGEMS version is 08.11.06.58 and my ArcMap version is 10.2.2.3552.

    Thanks for your help!

    Chris

  • Hi Chris,

You mentioned that you're right clicking with the WaterGEMS Selection tool. Can you confirm that you're using the one circled below in red? Using the same versions you have, I see the Merge Nodes option when right-clicking (after entering an Edit session).

  • Yes. I can confirm that I am using the selection tool you have circled in red. If I right click in the "blank space" of my map the WaterGEMS editing options show up but they are all grayed out. If I do the same right click directly on the junction I just get the ArcMap options. I can also confirm that I am able to make edits to element properties in the WaterGEMS element control window.

  • If you're able to select and use the WaterGEMS Select tool, then it sounds like your Project is indeed open, like in the below screenshot (accessed from WaterGEMS > View > Project Manager

Are you sure that the element you're right clicking on is a WaterGEMS element? Do you get the WaterGEMS menu options if you right click on a pipe?

Do you see any problems in the Table of Contents? (Window > Table of Contents) You should see a single layer for each element type, with no red exclamation points).

As a test, can you try starting a new Map, Add Existing Project, select one of the example models within the Samples folder under the WaterGEMS installation folder, save a new geodatabase in the same folder, start an edit session and see if the context menu works?

If this does not help, we'll open a Service Request, connect with you offline to troubleshoot, then circle back to this forum thread once resolved.

  • I tested the example project file and had no issue getting the merge nodes tool to work from the right click menu. I then opened my project file and IT WORKED!!! Problem solved. I'm wondering if my pc just needed a hard re-boot and re-opening my .mxd. Thanks for your help Jesse and Kristen!
