How to Model Outfall Pipe from a Riser Structure

Hello,

As my title states, I was just wondering what is the best way to model an 24" outfall pipe from the riser structure in PondPack V8i? I assume a culvert would be the best option but I am not sure if this is the best way to go about this.

Any tips?

Thanks!

  • I concur with Mark. To expand - check out the file "Riser.PPW" in the Samples folder within the PondPack installation folder. In the Composite Outlet Editor, you'll see a few examples. In the first one, note that the Downstream ID property of the Riser component is set to the Culvert. This tells the program to route flow from the top opening of the riser, into the culvert. You can also find another example in Quick Start Lesson #1 (Help menu > Quick Start Lessons > Lesson 1.

If your culvert has more capacity than the riser (including holes in the side of the riser), then you could consider omitting the culvert component (especially if you happen to notice instability in the composite rating curve).
