How to calculate volume inactive?

Hi,

I am running the model in steady state. Could someone explain to me how do we calculate the volume inative? Is it the initial level x tank area?

I am a bit confused because when i looked at the result the tank volume calculated is more than tank capacity.

For example

tank full capacity = 36000 m3

full depth = 5m

Tank area = 7200 m2

initial level let say 4m

Does it mean the volume inactive is 7200m2 (area) x 4m (initial level) = 28800 m3. Is this correct?

Other question is about why Volume Full(calculated) in tank physical properties is grey out and not shown calculated value? and how sid the Volume calculated in results properties was calculated?

Many thanks,

Azizah

  • Hi. This doesn't sound like a Communications application you are using. Are you by any chance using one of the Haestad hydraulics and Hydrology products ? If so, you would be better served by using the Haestad forum.

  • Azizah,

I see that this forum thread was submitted quite a long time ago. It appears that you are asking about WaterCAD or WaterGEMS. For any future questions, please post to the Haestad | Hydraulics and Hydrology Forum.

The inactive volume is the volume below the operating range (below the minimum elevation/level), and is used for water quality analysis.

The calculated full volume is between the minimum and the maximum. Try re-computing the model or toggle the Operating Range Type to refresh.
