Dear Sir / Madam,
According to the basic principles of Hydraulics, Qupstream=Qdownstream+Qsideweir.
However, the continuity equation above is not satisfied in my model. The water surface profile in my model (figure 1) doesn't appear as it should be (figure 2). It acts more like an inline weir.
Would you please tell me the mistake I made?

Hello Jason,
All conduit control structures are always in series with the conduit. So, to model a side weir, you'll need to lay out a new conduit at a tee with the main line, and use the side weir start control structure there. Like this:
Specifying "side weir" vs. "inline weir" changes the available input and the way in which the weir equation is calculated. The side weir option is appropriate for your situation, but you'll still need to direct the outflow appropriately.
