Pump's relative speed control rounded to 1,00

Hi guys,

I try to use SCADA Connect simulator to import VSP relative speeds into my model. It works perfectly except for 2 pumps. The relative speed gets rounded to 1,00 although the control indicated the correct value. I have several time-series for other VSP-s, but none of them behaves like that.

EDIT: It seems like, when my Pump_status is set to "On" the relative speed becomes 1,00 and the relative speed controls have no effect

Here are the settings of one of the two pumps influenced by the issue:

I've tried to set them as non-VSP pumps, but the rounding was the same. I tried to set other pumps which behaved normal to match the settings above, but they still reacted normal to the controls they have.

Any ideas what have gone wrong with my settings?

Best regards,

  • Hello Attila,

In general when a pump's Status is set to "on", the relative speed factor will indeed be 1.000 (full speed). In your pump properties, the initial status is set to on but the initial relative speed factor is set to zero. Do you want the point to be initially on, or initially off? Do you have a logical/simple control that is triggering the pump to change Status to "on" at hour 6.667? What is the "duration" for the control overrides set to? (I can't see it in the screenshot) Are there other controls for this pump further down in the list?

If fixing the initial status/relative speed does not help, can you send the model files (and steps to reproduce) using one of the methods in the below article? It may be difficult to troubleshoot this further without the model.

  • Hi Jesse,

I had overrides of pump_status and relative_speed_factor either for the same VSP. The control overrides were overlapping. I thought pump_status and relative_speed are independent of each other....

I did choose to delete pump status overrides, and deactivate the pump_satus SCADA element for VSP-s. Now it works flawlessly.

I didn't find this information (pump status: on = 1,00 relative speed factor) before, so it was a little bit confusing.

    Thank you for clarifying this!

  • Hi Attila,

I'm glad to hear the issue is resolved. There is some related information on this subject in the following article:
