Displaying Drop of a manhole

Hello Everyone, 

I have a query regarding displaying the drop depth in a manhole. I have gone through other technical articles available on community like .

My concern is that the available fields in the manhole only help us in working out the drop from the invert of incoming pipe to the invert of outgoing pipe, However, I would like to work out the drop from invert of incoming pipe to the overt of outgoing pipe. The figure of drop from invert of incoming pipe to the invert of outgoing pipe is not of much use. Is it possible to include the information (diameters) of all incoming pipes and outgoing pipes in the manhole properties? That would be of great help in working out the actual drop depths.

Also, i would like to avoid drop at certain locations by increasing the slope of pipes.  Can we add information of downstream conduit (within conduit attributes) so that we can select all conduits where there is difference in the invert (stop) of upstream conduit and invert (start) of downstream conduit.

  • Hello Jatin,

    What program are you using? In StormCAD (or SewerGEMS/CivilStorm using the StormCAD solver) there are results fields in the manhole properties for "Elevation (Invert Out)" and "Elevation (Invert In)". Moreover, if you have more than one incoming pipe for the manhole, you will see the invert elevation for both listed.

    You can use this information to find the drop depth based on any pipe you would use.

    Diameter information for the incoming or outgoing conduits is not included at this time. If this is the information that you wish to use, I can make a feature request to see if we can add this to a future release of the product.

    I have raised two issues.

    MANHOLE:

    Actually the drop depth we can work out from the available data available in manhole attribute is the difference in invert levels of incoming and outgoing pipes.

    Lets take a scenario like a 200 mm pipe connecting to a 1200 mm pipe. Even with overt matching of 200 and 1200 mm pipe, if i use the data of invert of incoming and outgoing pipes I will still get a drop of 1000 mm. But, actually there wont be a drop. Thats why additional information pertaining to incoming and outgoing pipes is required to locate the manholes where actually drop is happening.

    I have also attached  a snapshot of drop manhole which shows what gets considered as a drop in a manhole. I would like to work out the dimension marked in red. For that we need the diameter of outgoing pipe, diameter of oncoming pipe in addition to the levels (which are available in manhole attributes). 

    CONDUITS: (My intent is to remove all drops of less than 600 mm in the model by increasing the slope of pipes)

    Additional information should also be made available in conduit attributes about the downstream conduit (i.e. Invert Start and diameter). This will really help in saving time.
