Installation, HA and backup WaterGEMS

Hi everyone

I am planning to implement WaterGEMS to end-users and having a master plan for high availability/backup for database. There are several questions I am searching for answers but yet find out a proper solution.

1. Which Windows OS versions could WaterGEMS install?

2. Do we install ArcGIS and its database into one host or seperated?

3. Have anyone designed a high availability plan for WaterGEMS? Please kindly share.

4. For the safe use of database, I need to firgure out a backup for database.

Thank you very much for your contribution and sharings.

Regards

Tri

  • Hello Tri,

    To supplement Wayne's response:

    1) Please see the following wiki article: Platform Compatibility

    2) Questions on ArcGIS installation can be directed to ESRI. For WaterGEMS integration with ArcGIS, the ArcMap application and WaterGEMS are installed on the same desktop computer and the integration occurs automatically during installation of WaterGEMS. For a hydraulic model in ArcMap integrated mode, WaterGEMS uses an intermediate geodatabase (MDB file) to synchronize the changes to the model database (SQLITE file) to the ArcMap "Map" (MXD file). However, if you have an actual GIS system, it likely is stored in its own geodatabase, which can be stored in many different ways. Contact your GIS specialize for more on this. In WaterGEMS for ArcMap, you would use the ModelBuilder tool to import or keep the model in sync with the GIS. For more information on ArcMap integration, see the respective Help topic and this wiki article: WaterGEMS For ArcGIS [FAQ]

    3) If you are indeed referring to Citrix virtualization, see Using Hydraulics and Hydrology products with Citrix or other Virtualized environments
