Help! I think Ive set the increment in Contour map so small that the program hangs out. The problem is that, I think I have saved it so the next time I open the file it automatically runs the contour map. It can't proceed on opening. Anyone experience this?
Hello Joven,
Open the software but, do not open your project file. This can be done by clicking on the application icon and selecting close on the Welcome window.
Go to Tools > Database Utilities > Compact Database. In the CONNECT Edition releases of the products go to File > Database Utilities > Compact Database
In this next step you are presented two options: 1) Retain record to optionally allow elements to be completely restored later 2) Purge records to save space. Option 2 for purging records will work best to help the database functional optimally as it reduces the number of unnecessary records saved.
Compacting Database
File>Import>WaterGEMS Database, this will exclude the contours and the presentation settings like color coding, annotations etc.

Hi Joven,
If you're encountering an out of memory exception, check if you're using the 64-bit version of WaterGEMS (available in all recent versions). This requires that you have a 64-bit Operating System. See: Memory errors when performing certain tasks
If this is not an option or if it still does not help, try deleting the model's .DWH file. This will have the same base file name as the model in question and stores some information that may be causing the error when reopening the model. If this does not help, the problem could be with the .WTG file, which stores various presentation settings. In this case, select "database files" from the "files of type" dropdown in the File Open dialog and select the model's .WTG.SQLITE file (or .WTG.MDB file if you're on a very old version) instead of the .WTG. This will open the hydraulic model information without presentation settings. This is similar to the graphs issue mentioned in this wiki article: System.OutOfMemoryException when viewing graphs or saving a model
