Modeling a intermediate SAV connected to surge tank

Hi Everyone,

We are designing a water booster pump system, this system comprise four intermediate booster pump statitons, the total static head is 2,000 m and 35 km of pipeline. The previous engineering considered the use of check valve between pump stations, so this system will have 4 intermediate check valve. Downstream these valves will have SAV (Surge Anticipating Valve) as show on the picture.

All SAV have two pilot, high pressure and low pressure, like Bermad, Claval and others brands. For this project the configuration of SAV is as follow:

- Low Pressure Pilot will be configured at pressure of 30 mca, so the valve will open to 70% when the transient pressure will be reduced to 30 mca and allow enter water to the pipeline, that because the SAV will be conected to a full surge tank, installed 30 m above this valve.

- High Pressure pilot will be configured at 120 mca, so the valve will open to 100% when the transient pressure will increse to 120 mca and alow go back water to the tank, working as a surge tank.

I have been modeled SAV for other project, but always for discharge, in this project the configuration is diferent , so given this context and in my experience using Water Hammer it seems to me that it is not possible to simulate this configuration, so I would appreciate it if you can help me get this model.

Thanks,

César
