The model file can be exported to EPANET (File > Export > EPANET) and imported using the V8i version of the software (File > Import > EPANET). There is a potential to lose some information in the export and import process of EPANET files.

The best solution is for the client to upgrade. See the first wiki article link that Mark provided. Due to changes and enhancements to the model file format in the later version, SewerCAD is now forwards compatible. If you can open the model in SewerGEMS, you can export to the EPA-SWMM format and then the client can import the SWMM INP file into their older version, but this runs the risk of losing any SewerCAD-specific information not carried across in the INP file.
