We are using WaterGEMS V8i SELECT Series 6.
We are in the process of building a model for unidirectional flushing.
For the model, we are planning to import the demand data using Customer Meter Element.
Have there been any interference of Customer Meter Elements with Unidirectional Flushing analysis?
If that is the case, we prefer to allocated demand using a conventional method.
We truly appreciate your input.
Thank you.
Yoko
Hello Yoko,
There should be no problem with using customer meter elements with flushing. Meaning, you can establish your normal demands using the customer elements (with taps and laterals too, if desired), then establish a flushing study with hydrant elements as the flowing elements during a flush. During the flush, the normal demands from the customer elements should be accounted for.
I did a quick test in the latest version of WaterGEMS (CONNECT Edition Update 1, build 10.01.00.72) and confirmed that the flushing results changed after adding customer elements. I added a note about this to the following Wiki article:
Flushing in WaterGEMS/WaterCAD CONNECT Edition or V8i SELECTSeries 6
I recommend upgrading your V8i to CONNECT Edition, as there are improvements not only to the Flushing tool, bt to many other aspects of the software. You can read more about them here:
