Can Sewergems drainage model can be exported to Microdrainage?

We are trying to export the drainage model in SewerGEMS to Microdrainage. Can any one could assist on it? Thanks

  • Hello Madhavan,

    Which version of SewerGEMS are you using? Go to Help > About. You will find the version of SewerGEMS at the bottom left corner.

    The export to MicroDrainage is available in Select Series 5 of SewerGEMS V8i under File > Export > MicroDrainage.

    Here is the relevant article on this;

    What's New in SewerGEMS V8i SELECTseries 5?

    Are you facing any issues in exporting to MicroDrainage?

    Please elaborate on your problem.

  • Hello Madhavan,

    In which product are you importing the MicroDrainage (.sws) file? Are you using MX, Power InRoads or some other product?

    I tried with a sample model and was able to successfully export the model from SewerGEMS to MicroDrainage (.sws) format.

    In Power InRoads, I then imported the file from Subsurface Utilities > Project > Import > MicroDrainage. I navigated to the location of the .sws file and imported it successfully (no errors).

    Are there any elements in your model with some property of elements (conduits, manholes, catch-basins) with "Standard.pip" as the value?

    There might be some property which of of "string" type and during import it is assigned to a property of "integer" type. Since both don't match, it may be giving that error.

    Also, Standard.pip is a file associated with .sdb file when exporting to MicroDrainage. When using SewerGEMS only the .sws file is created.

  • In the SWS file that SewerGEMS creates, "standard.pip" should only appear on line 10.

    SewerGEMS writes that line so that MicroDrainage knows the file of circular pipe sizes to use - SewerGEMS simply assumes this file because its the default in MicroDrainage.

    Because the SWS file is an ASCII file, you could simply try changing or deleting that line, to see if that helps. Have you checked to make sure that the "standard.pip" file actually exists in MicroDrainage? If it does not, then you may need to change the SWS file, and put in the name of the .pip file that you are using.
