Error creating Profile in WaterGems Select Series 6

Any time I try to create a profile in WaterGems I get the error "Some elements referenced by the profile no longer exist..." ... "Would you like to Auto-repair the profile so you can continue to use it?"

I click yes and then it says "The profile does not contain sufficient waypoints or is damaged to the point that it cannot be reconstructed."

When I am selecting the elements the window looks like the screenshot below and I cannot enlarge it at all.

I can still look at past profiles that have been created and I've tried it in multiple files and I get the same error. Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,

Kyle

  • Hello Kyle,

The message in question typically indicate that one or more elements that were part of the profile path at the time of creation are no longer present and thus the profile is no longer valid. This can happen for example after performing a split, morph, reconnect, delete, etc.

To help identify the cause of the issue, click the highlight   button at the top of the profile manager after clicking on the name of the profile. This will highlight the path in blue - check for breaks. Check for inactive elements as well - these are normally colored in gray, but can be set to disappear. See: Making inactive elements disappear

As for the problem with the size of the profile setup window - that could be due to a problem with the file that stores the dimensions and state of windows in the application, or possible due to Windows scaling settings. To check the operating system scaling/DPI, see the information mentioned in this article.

To reset the window size, first try View > Reset Workspace.

If this does not help, close the application, open File Explorer, then browse to and delete the following file (after making a backup of the old version) and reopen the application to regenerate a default copy, with default window positions and sizes:

    C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Bentley\WaterGEMS\8\Haestad.Drawing.Control.Application.ProfileElementCreatorFormModel.FormSettings.bin

If the above does not help and this is happening for newly created profiles, please first try creating a profile of a single, active pipe. If that works, please elaborate on the types of elements that you are trying to cover in the profiles that do not open.

  • To add to my previous reply - I would also recommend upgrading to the CONNECT Edition, as we've added many new features and enhancements. You can read about them here:

  • Please note the following correction to the file path toward the bottom of my first post:

    C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Bentley\WaterGEMS\8\Haestad.Drawing.Control.Application.ProfileElementCreatorFormModel.FormSettings.bin

  • Jesse,

Thank you. Resetting the workspace fixed my issue.
