Hello everyone,
We 've been told that the latest version of WaterGEMS includes part of HAMMER capabilities. However, there are functionalities of HAMMER that WaterGEMS cannot cover.
Could we have more information about that?
Can new version of WaterGEMS do transient analysis and to what extent?
Thanks in advance for your time.
Kind Regards
Bill Prassas
Hi Bill,
WaterGEMS does not do transient analysis. You need HAMMER if you want to run a transient analysis.
But, because WaterGEMS and HAMMER use exactly the same file format, it is possible to lay-out transient protection devices (like surge relief valves, air valves, etc.) in WaterGEMS. Perhaps that is the source of confusion here?

Mal Sharkey

Here is an article that clarifies WaterGEMS vs. HAMMER: Can WaterCAD or WaterGEMS perform a transient analysis?
This article has information and a video about opening existing WaterCAD or WaterGEMS models in HAMMER for a transient analysis: Opening WaterCAD and WaterGEMS models in HAMMER
This article goes into detail on preparing an existing hydraulic model for a transient simulation: Preparing an existing model for a transient analysis in HAMMER
