All,
I just wanted to let you know that we have recently posted a SELECT update for StormCAD V8i to the SELECT Services downloads site ( http://appsnet.bentley.com/myselectcd/default.aspx ). The version number for this release is 08.11.00.34.
The primary reason for releasing this update was to add support in StormCAD for importing and exporting InRoads Storm and Sanitary files. So now it is possible to:
- Lay out a new site/road in InRoads - Determine catchment areas using the terrain modeling tools and add some preliminary drainage pipes and inlets in InRoads Storm & Sanitary - Open that Storm & Sanitary file in StormCAD for further analysis (for example, create a number of Scenarios using the powerful StormCAD Scenario Manager) - Create a final design in StormCAD, then save and export that back to InRoads (either by updating the original S & S file or creating a new one) - Use InRoads for plan and profile preparation
Note that there is not a perfect one-to-one relationship between the InRoads and StormCAD data models, so where we have to make assumptions on what data to use we alert the user with User Notifications. Having said that, the majority of the data maps perfectly and many models will compute immediately after import. InRoads structure and rainfall libraries are also supported.
We hope that this update will help streamline the workflow for engineers who utilize both InRoads and StormCAD in their drainage design projects. This builds on the support in StormCAD V8i to import/export GEOPAK/PowerCivil for Americas drainage projects, and is part of Bentley's continued commitment to interoperability.
Stay tuned for other developments in 2009 that further improve interoperability between Bentley Civil and Haestad products.
