Since I updated to CONNECT Edition 1 of WaterGEMS, my cursor disappears from the screen in certain operations. The normal "select" tool is fine. The "pan" tool works but shows a very small icon. On "zoom in" or "zoom out" the cursor disappears. I have dealt with it by guessing at where I am on the screen but now I am trying to add a Bing map and the cursor to register the map (pick a point on display) also disappears.
This seems like an issue with the video/graphics card driver or how it is configured. I recommend trying the steps listed in the following article.

I concur that this is likely related to your video hardware. You might also want to update your mouse driver, or temporarily try another spare mouse to help narrow down the cause.
If that does not help, it could be due to display-related Windows settings. These will depend on your exact Operating Systems (Windows 7, 8, 10, etc), but here are two other wiki articles that mention adjustment of the Operating System scaling/DPI settings:
