Synchronization Issue?

I’ve been Synchronizing Drawing (going to Subsurface Utility -> Tools -> Synchronize Drawing) consistently while working in my SUDA file, but the Conduits still end up automatically connecting to other Nodes after making deletions and additions. Has anyone seen this before and is there any solution to this issue? (Not sure if this is part of the reason, but I have noticed issues starting when the Conduit # begins to reach 100) I am using CivilStorm Power GEOPAK V8i (SS4) Version 08.11.09.904 . Planning on uploading the file to Secure File Upload here shortly.

  • Hello Kenneth,

I am consulting with my colleagues from the Civil/OpenRoads Support team to see if this is a known issue with the older version you're using.

With the Haestad products (like CivilStorm), this type of issue would occur on model import when there are duplicate labels. For example when importing a submodel with labels that are not unique, pipes will end up connecting to the wrong end nodes, if multiple nodes have the same label. A similar problem can happen when importing external data using the ModelBuilder tool, if mapping start and stop node to nodes that have duplicate labels.

Were you using submodel import or ModelBuilder when this happened? You mentioned "deletions and additions" - can you provide more details on what you were doing? Do you see the wrong start or start nodes in the hydraulic properties of the pipes, or is it just a problem with the plan view connectivity?

  • Hi Jesse,

It appears from a colleague, also working with SUDA, knows someone who has been working with Bentley on this issue which has been logged as Defect 862322.

I had been just working in SS4 exclusively with no importing/exporting. The deletions and additions were basically deleting some nodes/pipes I didn't need anymore and adding some pond outlets/pipes/headwalls to route the water differently than before. In doing that I believe some of the labels may have been "duplicated"/re-used from before like you mentioned. Looking at the file it does look like this is more of a plan view connectivity issue as the pipes start/end nodes are correct in the Hydraulic Properties, but not showing correctly in plan view.

  • Hello Kenneth,

Yes, I too have discovered that this is a known issue, which can happen when the SUE and SUDA databases become out of sync. We'll get back to you shortly with more information.

  • Hello Kenneth,

As mentioned earlier, my colleague was familiar with this issue, but unfortunately it is an issue that we have not yet been able to reproduce consistently in order to determine the root cause (and required fix). We believe that your SUE and SUDA databases became out of sync at some point in the past, and you only noticed it when the model was synchronized.

In order to help us troubleshoot this, are you able to go back to a "good" version of the file that doesn't show this issue (when synchronizing drawing), and retrace your steps/workflow that you used to cause it to get into the "bad" state? (where a sync-drawing causes the issue in question)

  • Hi Jesse,

I have uploaded 3 more .dgn files to the Secure File Upload site. (I had to start a new series of files after I ran into the issue with that file I had previously sent you earlier today.) 1 file in the early stages without having run any scenarios yet and no synchronization issues, 1 file right before the synchronization issue and having run many scenarios, and 1 file with the synchronization issue included. I made every attempt to zoom out and see if any misconnections occurred while doing the synchronizations, but let me know if you need another earlier file than the one I had uploaded.
