New Product Release: OpenFlows FLOOD

We are pleased to announce the availability of OpenFlows FLOOD, a flood modeling software for understanding, simulating and mitigating flood risks in urban, riverine, and coastal areas.

OpenFlows FLOOD uses numerical models to simulate a range of hydraulic and hydrological processes that occur in river basins, including rainfall, infiltration, surface runoff, channel flow, and groundwater flow in a visually rich environment.

In urban areas OpenFlows FLOOD can connect to a SewerGEMS or CivilStorm stormwater network to dynamically simulate stormwater flow and surface runoff in a 2D environment.

OpenFlows FLOOD is also integrated with ContextCapture and LumenRT, allowing the ingestion of the topographic data obtained in ContextCapture as an input to the surface runoff model, and then to visualize model outputs in an immersive and visually striking 3D reality modeling interface as provided by LumenRT.

Product Capabilities

• Simulate floods and understand flood inundation and risk
• Create and analyze hydraulic and hydrological models
• Simulate river flows
• Simulate surface runoff
• Simulate floods in urban areas
• Coastal flooding, risk and protection measures
• Can be used to configure Flood Early Warning Systems (FEWS)

Note:

OpenFlows FLOOD is Bentley’s evolution of MOHID Studio focused on flooding. MOHID Studio was developed by Action Modulers and was recently acquired by Bentley Systems. Click here for the press release. In the next weeks and months, new and updated documentation will be included here.

  • It is good that Bentley now contribution with 2D modelling, however;

1- seems that we are going to deal with two programs, our expectations were to have the 2D and catchment manager modules into your SewerGEMS, that will be more friendly user and all in one program.

2- we expect to see more tutorials on youtube for learning and discover the options.

3- if we can get a testing license to explore and feedback.

    Thank you,

    Mohamad.

  • Hi Mohamad,

Many thanks for your prompt feedback and interest.

    Regarding your questions:

1 - In the upcoming times we will try to fulfill user feedback as much as possible, including the potential full integration of OpenFlows FLOOD and SewerGEMS into a single User Interface. This first release was an evolution of MOHID Studio (acquired by Bentley 1 year ago) which was an important step, as it is focused in any type of flooding (with or without sewage network involved). Nevertheless, at this point we tried to improve and smooth the operational workflow among multiple Bentley's software. For instance, right now, we're able to ingest information from ContextCapture (surface) and SewerGEMS (sewage network) into OpenFlows FLOOD, and then visualize surface water column in LumenRT in visually striking 3D graphics. This involves 4 different software products in Bentley. But as I said, unifying is also a direction and is on our roadmap.

2 - For sure. And you will also see webinars / tech talks, focused on specific topics, or in the big picture.

3 - For this issue, I suggest contacting your Bentley sales representative. He / she will be looking forward to help you on this matter.

    Best regards,

    Rodrigo
