Two-seperate Pipe Inlets

Question

Hi guys! 
 Happy new year to those in Australia! 
 Is it possible for me to assign two-inlet pipes to one Tank using Bentley WaterGems software update 10.00.01.04?I have two inlet pipes that are used to feed one tank all from the top.

Hello Mulongo, 
 You need to specify "Has separate inlet" in the tank properties to TRUE and "Tank fills from top" to TRUE, then you should be able to model tank with two inlets filling from top.

Hello Mulongo, 
 The "Tank fills from the top" option assumes there is only one inlet pipe. In order to model two inlet pipes, you would need to set up the model with PSVs connecting the tank with short pipes with little to no friction. I would recommend review the link Sushma mentioned. There is a section in that link called "Multiple Inlet Pipes" that gives some information on the recommended setup for a case like this.

Hi Mulongo, as noted, the "separate inlet" option can only have one inlet pipe. Here are some options when using the suggested PSV workaround: 
 1) Turn off the PSV layer in element symbology so that the PSV nodes disappear in the plan view. 
 2) Label the PSVs accordingly, to help clarify what they are used for. 
 3) Explain to the reviewer/senior modelers that the PSVs are used so that the model "sees" the inlet invert elevations. 
 4) If the two pipes connect to the tank at the same elevation (or roughly the same), consider modeling them as one single pipe, then use the "separate inlet" and "tank fills from top" features in the tank.
