Different design constraints for different lines

Resp. Sir/Mam,

Please guide.

How can I design the same (one) project. with different design constraints for different lines.

In same project I have a flat terrain as well as hilly terrain.

For flat slope will be 1 in 200 & for hilly terrain it will be 1 in 50.

Thanks & Regards,

Uday Patil.

  • Hi Uday,

    You can define local design constraints for the pipes located in flat or hilly terrain. The design constraints specified by accessing under the Analysis Tab > Analysis Tools > Design Constraints are the "global" design constraints and apply to all the pipes and nodes in the model. However, you have the option of specifying "local" design constraints which would apply to specific pipes or sets of pipes.

    Here is where you can find this property under pipe properties;

    Once you set this to "True" you can enter local design constraints for your pipe or pipes.

    As a workflow you can create separate selection sets for pipes in hilly areas and pipes in flat areas and apply the "local" design constraints as per your requirement. You can also keep the global design constraints for one set and apply the local design constraints for one one selection set of pipes (i.e. either hilly or flat).

    Hope this helps.

  • Dear Sir,

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

    From the procedure what i can understand that is i can edit one conduit at a time. please guide how can i select multiple conduit or a particular zone from the whole project. to specify local pipe constraints. In short is it possible to provide local design constraints to one of the complete zone.

  • Hello Uday,

    I have shared the link to the article detailing the procedure for creating selection sets in the above response.

    Hope this helps.
