Catalog information with StormCAD Inroads Export

Ref: https://communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/f/haestad-hydraulics-and-hydrology-forum/16819/stormcad-v8i-select-update---import-export-inroads-storm-sanitary

In the same note, can the direction be reversed, whereby you can export StormCAD to Inroads S&S to include the Inlet and Conduit Catalog file?

In other words, when you export StormCAD to Inroads, does the export include the material library or Catalog?

  • Hello Ekene,

Are you using Bentley InRoads or Bentley Power InRoads or the latest version OpenRoads Designer?

When you export InRoads file from StormCAD into InRoads i.e. .sdb file and import that into civil product, the correct conduit sizes are imported for the pipes, however conduit catalog is not imported through .sdb file, you will need to copy that manually in civil product.

I am conforming the workflow with out civil team as well.

  • I am using just Bentley InRoads, V8i (select series 4), no OpenRoads Designer yet.

The stormCAD catalog is saved as an .xml file. Is there a way to export or convert .xml catalog file to an inroads Structure.dat file?

It appears you can import inroads structure.dat file  into StormCAD, but not the other way around.

When you say you need to copy manually in civil product, can you clarify?

  • Hello Ekene,

Please allow us some time to test this and get back to you.
