sewergems autocad layers

Is there a way to have sewergems display catchments on a certain layer? I would love to be able to use transparency but do not see a way to do it in autocad?

On a related note would it be possible to use dwg files as background in standalone sewergems?

  • What platform are you using SewerGEMS in? Microstation, AutoCAD, or ArcGIS?

No, a DWG file can't be used as a background file in standalone, but you can export the DWG to a DXF, DGN, SHP, and other various picture format files for the background layers.

  • In CAD we use Civil 3D 2018. We use a combination of Civil 3D and standalone versions. We do export to dxf but users are wondering why a dwg can't be referenced. The catchments don't have the transparency feature in cad they have in the standalone. And you need to click on an edge in cad which is difficult when the edge is overlapping other catchments.

  • Hi Brian, please see my previous post. Levels (layers) can be controlled in MicroStation integrated mode but not in AutoCAD mode. I had provided some resources for how you can potentially use Standalone to accomplish what you need. You can save your DWG to the supported DXF format via File > Save As in AutoCAD. If you need to create a hydraulic model based on a CAD drawing, you can do this in Standalone with the ModelBuilder tool.
