Parameters for surge tank representing vertical pipe

 Regard ing the simulation of vertical vent pipe ,I just wanted to make sure that the parameters I entered for the surge tank are correct (two way surge tank with the same diameter as pipe (0.3 m) ,weir length ( &pi; *d) and base elevation of 15 .11 m ,m ax elevation of 22.26 m ,treat as junction (false) )

Hello Serine, 
 I assume you have a vertical pipe with an open top. 
 If so: yes, if the diameter of the vertical pipe is 0.3 m, the diameter of the surge tank would be 0.3 m, and the weir length (perimeter/circumference of the open top) would be 0.3 * 3.14159 = 0.94 m. 
 If this vertical pipe connects to the main pipe network at an elevation of 15.11 m, then you would set both the "Elevation (base)" and "Elevation" fields to 15.11 m. 
 If the top of the pipe (open to the atmosphere) is at an elevation of 22.26 m, then you would set the "Elevation (Maximum)" to 22.26 m. 
 Often, surge tanks "float" on the system, in which case you would set "Treat as junction?" to "true". This tells the program to consider the tank as a junction for the initial conditions, resulting in an initial hydraulic grade that the surge tank would eventually settle on under normal operating conditions. This means that the tank needs to be taller than the normal operating hydraulic grade. You would set "treat as junction" to "false", if you want to manually specify the initial water surface elevation, but that could result in tank inflow or outflow during the initial conditions, which you could consider as meaning that things are not truly in steady state (as movement/changes would be occurring at the beginning of the transient simulation as the surge tank tries to settle on a hydraulic grade.

 If you right-click on a pump, you will see a Pump Curve option. This will show the pump operating point at the current time step.
