Total Water Entering a pond: Civilstorm

I am currently working on a project for a residential client whose backyard catch basin overflows into their yard during larger storm events. Currently I have the backyard set up as a pond with the catch basin as the outlet control structure so I can accurately measure their flooding volume and their depth of flooding. However, I am having trouble finding the total volume of water that enters the backyard.

To be clear this is not the total amount of water in the pond at any one time. This is the total amount of water that enters the pond over the entire duration of the storm. Is it possible to find the total amount of water that enters a pond over the course of a storm?

  • Hello George,

I assume you already have the appropriate catchments configured to model the drainage area that drains to the pond, and have connected that to the pond.

In this case, you can see the total pond inflow volume using the Hydraulic Reviewer. See more in the following article: How to find volume (such as overflow volume) through specific elements

Depending on which numerical solver you're using, you can also find a runoff volume result in the catchment properties.
