Residual Head at Inlet of Tank (Filling from Top)

How do I determine the residual head at the inlet of the Overhead Water Tank which is filling from the top in WaterGEMS?

  • Hello Chetan,

Generally residual pressure is the measured pressure at a junction for a given flow through the pipe. Residual pressure is determined by the velocity head calculated through the pipeline.

What are you trying to achieve by calculating the residual pressure at the inlet?

Are you trying to determine the head required for the pump to pump to the tank?

  • The purpose of calculating the residual head here is the client's requirement where the minimum residual pressure at the inlet of tank shall be 3 m.

Since my tank is getting filled by gravity, I was unable to determine with how much pressure. As mentioned by Jesse in the reply below, I have used separate inlet but without "Ilet Valve Throttles" Feature in my model.
