SewerGEMS Skeletonization

Does SewerGEMS have a tool to skeletonize the network similar to WaterGEMS?  We are only planning to model the main "backbone" system, because we do not have good invert data for the entire system, but we want to use parcel and land use information to assign loads.  If we have the connectivity for all the smaller gravity lines I assume it's easiest to assign loads to the entire system using one of the Load Builder methods, but then we will need to transfer that load downstream to the backbone system since the smaller lines will not be in the model.  Is there a tool for this in SewerGEMS?

  • Brian,

No, SewerGEMS doesn't have a skeletonization tool similar to WaterGEMS, but if you have a WaterGEMS license you could bring in the SewerGEMS conduits into WaterGEMS as pressure pipes, use Skelebrator, then export the adjusted pipes to a shapefile. There are probably a few other ways to do this, but if you'd like to do it automatically this is probably one of the faster ways. Other useful tools for doing this with a more manual approach would be network navigator using the built in queries or by creating some of your own queries.
