StormCAD

Good morning everyone,

Im doing this workshop to teach myself stormCAD from this program.

https://communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/m/hydraulics_and_hydrology_gallery/273785

and I have a question on the Storm sewer system design -->hydraulic set up--->prototypes--> step 23.

this is what appears on my screen:

i couldnt add a column to enter those values so I kept moving forward to the next steps but now I have enter the data from this catchment table:

but I cant enter that information into my flex table:

how much% area do I put in each column? or does it vary per person since this is a scaled schematic?

If anyone has done this workshop before please help.

Thank you :)

  • Hello Christian,

    I went through the PDF for this lesson as well as the data-set shared with it.

    I can understand the confusion due to the entry required in the subareas where you cannot enter the area but the percentage of area. The sub-areas are defined as a table where you can assign the percentage composition (in relation to the total catchment area) and the corresponding runoff coefficient.

    In this case you can work out the percentages by a little manual calculation;

    For Example, in case of CM-1 the areas for SFR and Paved are given as 2.93 ha and 0.328 ha respectively. Hence the total area for this catchment would be 3.258 ha.

    Now, 2.93 / 3.258 = 89.9 % and 0.328 / 3.258 = 10.1 %.

    You can use these values for CM-1 and calculate accordingly for all the catchments. However, you have to change the Catchment property "Use Scaled Area?" to "False" and enter the total area for each catchment (E.g. 3.258 for CM-1).

    A spreadsheet application like Excel would be helpful here.
