How to import DGN file into StormCAD?

How do I import a DGN file with roadway geometry and proposed drainage structures into StormCad? I have Geopak V8i SS 4 and StormCAD V8i SS 5. I want StormCad to be able to automatically fill in the proposed pipe length and the rim elevation of the proposed drainage structures from the CADD file, instead of me having to manually input them in.

Thanks

  • Hi,

No, the file is not a SU model. I didn't know that it needs to be a SU model. I don't think the subsurface utilities Engineering tool is even activated in Geopak.

I am not familiar with StormCAD, is there a way to incorporate StormCAD functionalities in Microstation, or vice versa? I have this DGN file here (that was not developed by me) with StormCAD elements drawn in, can you tell me how this was done?

Maybe I need to upgrade the StormCAD V8i for MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 2) to SS4 as my Geopak version is SS4?

  • Hello Larry,

You should be able to import the DGN file into StormCAD using ModelBuilder. If you have a CONNECT Edition release, the DGN file will be one of the options. If you have an older release, you can save the DGN as a DXF file and use that instead.

You can do this in StormCAD standalone or if you are using StormCAD in the MicroStation platform. ModelBuilder is available in both.

    Regards,
