Active Topology and Initial setting

Hello,

1- After selection of a pipe under the properties, we can see two active topology and initial settings.

In the active topology  we can active and or inactive both pipe and junction, which both pipe or junction will not be part of the calculation and evaluation of the model and in the drawing i can see the colors of the selected elements are lighter as well. but in the initial settings it is only open and close functions by closing an element the color of the element is still bold as other elements.

Could you please explain what are the different and  similarity of both functions?

Also, consider a satiation if a leakage is happened in the network, what is your recommendation for  evaluation purpose inactive and element or closed and why?

Best regards

  • Hello Ramin,

A pump has an initial status as well, just like a pipe. If the initial status is Off, there will be no flow through the pump (you can use controls to turn a pump on or off based one certain conditions in a model).

Junctions do not have a status, so there isn't a way to turn it off. However, if there are no demands on a given junction, it will simply act as a connection point between two or more pipes.

    Regards,

    Scott
