Hello,
I have a question regarding the Node Demands. My consulting firm has recieved an old model that is slightly geospacially off and has many incorrect pipe lengths and diameters. So we created a new model from the GIS.
My question: Is there anyway that you can possibly extract the demands from the old model and import them into the new model? We currently do not have access to the current shapefile of the demands as it is owned by the other Consulting firm that created the model. I cannot see in the loadbuilder of the old model any shapefiles that were used for demands so i have no way of extracting it myself. Is there any other way?
The project budget is very low so we do not have time to geospacially recreate the demands from metered data in ArcGIS and import them as a shapefile into WaterGEMs.

I know there is no elevations in the new model at the moment i plan on adding those in shortly!
Hello Alan,
It may be possible to simply copy and paste data from the Demand Control Center of one model into the other. This would only be possible if the same labels are in the same order and would be easiest if there is only one demand per node. If so, you can sort the Demand Control Center in both models the same way, then use the keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste the data from one to the other.
This isn't only possible though. For instance, if there are not demands on each node in the original model, getting the right items in the second model may not be trivial. In such a case, there is another model you can use. This model uses an Excel spreadsheet and ModelBuilder. With an Excel file that contains the needed column header, you can sync the demand data in the original model out to spreadsheet using ModelBuilder. Once you have the demand data available in the spreadsheet, you can then use this and ModelBuiilder in the new model to import the data back in. Please see this wiki for the steps: Can demand data be exported to an Excel file for use in another model?
Regards,
Scott
Scott,
That is my main issue. The nodes do not have the same labeling mechanisms. So they won't match up if i were to sort them in that regard or to export them into an Excel Spreadsheet.
Is there any other way that you know of?
The next best option (aside from relabeling the junctions in the new model to match the old model), would be to use LoadBuilder. This process doesn't take a lot of time, but you would need to have GIS data with demand information. This link has information on the different LoadBuilder methods. The method you would use would depend on the data you have. However, the setup and import for this doesn't take a lot of time and could be an option to get the demand data into the model.
