StormCAD: Forcing a specified parts-full

The owner requires the velocity to be checked when the depth of flow is 15% of full-flow.  What I want to do is create a scenario that will design the conduits to just-full capacity (95% full) using the catchment discharge,  and then create a child scenario that would analyze the designed system for conduits that are 15% full (regardless of the actual flow in the conduit).  Is this possible?

Thank you in advance

  • Hello Kevin,

Although there are several methods which can help our users check against certain engineering standards for which we use the Engineering Standards feature to check on certain parameters as per user defined values or ranges. However, this does not check for 15% depth of the total depth. I tried using the conditions as you specified but the result field of depth is not available.

For your case I think there are two ways you can go about your requirement. You can use User Defined Extensions (UDX) to develop fields for 15% depth by creating a formula for it in the conduit flex table. See the below article for using formula based UDX.

    Creating Formula-Based User Data Extensions

This can give you the 15% depth values. However, you would have to calculate the velocity separately (in a spreadsheet application like Excel) as you cannot create a new UDX formula which uses another UDX function.

Alternatively you can still use the Engineering Standards if you have a specific range of velocities to be checked for all the pipes. In this case the software will find such pipes and notify you.

Please also refer to the content my colleague Jesse shared with you regarding part full design.

    Hope this helps.
