I'd like to run a model with a fire water network, in order to know water flow and pressure in given nodes where are going to be installed hydrants or hoses.
I've been following the instructions given at https://docs.bentley.com/LiveContent/web/Bentley%20HAMMER%20SS6-v1/en/GUID-C6BF82B2-253F-4845-B60F-718A63FB1F8F.html , but when I click "Compute" it seems that is trying to run a Transient model, because there are a error saying that is missing Wave velocities, in the other hand after I set up parameter in fire flow alternative and I clicked on "Initial conditions" calculation, there are no flow. Is there something that I missing? or is just that I can't be allowed to run a steady state fire flow analysis on Hammer.
Please I'd like to receive some feedback, I'm attaching the example model.
Thanks

Hello Fernando,
While you can model some basic hydraulic analyses using the Initial Conditions calculation in HAMMER, it is recommended that you use WaterCAD or WaterGEMS. In your case, the automated fire flow option is not available in HAMMER. Other features, like water quality runs, are also not available in HAMMER.
If you plan to do a transient analysis on the model at some point, you will be able to directly open the WaterCAD or WaterGEMS model in HAMMER. But if you are doing any substantive hydraulic analysis, I would recommend using WaterCAD or WaterGEMS.
Regards,
Scott
Thanks for your answer, I thought that it was possible because in Bentley's documentation says that you can run the fire analysis on Hammer, sadly at the time I don't have access to watercad nor watergems. I have to explore the limitations on Hammer doing hydraulic analysis.
Could you please direct us to document where it says you can run the fire analysis on Hammer, we might need to correct that information.
If you need to perform hydraulic analysis and design water distribution network with fire flow analysis you would need to use WaterGEMS or WaterCAD for that purpose as mentioned by my colleague Scott.
In Hammer you can build the water network but it is suitable for transient analysis. Below is information about capabilities of Hammer.

Hi Sushma,
Here is the link where says you can run fire analysis on Hammer.

It was included in the HAMMER Help documentation in error. HAMMER will not run an automated fire flow run. You will need to use WaterGEMS or WaterCAD to use that feature. I have updated the fire flow wiki referenced above to make a note of this.
