Loadbuilder - How to maintain consumption in load builder.

In load builder - I'm using load estimation by population method in water gems. In this, How to calculation load density for load use type?

  • Hello Prash,

In Load estimation by population method, you need to specify service boundary, population density within boundary and at last load density so based on Load density and population density demand is distributed.

So load density is based on your engineering judgement how much would be load per capita for different load use types like residential or commercial and based on ward density. So product of load density and population density would give you demand. This should be based on norms used for design in your area.

Here is information on how loadbuilder methods work, for your reference, but it appears that you are already using this reference or user guide.

How do each of the LoadBuilder methods work?

  • Thank you for Reply,

Mam, If the load density is based on engineering judgement how much would be load per capita for different load use types like residential or commercial and based on ward density, then the population and demand will be different for each designer as the judgement is depend on designer. is it True or what will be ideal solution to calculate load density for residential as well other areas.

  • With the Load Estimation by Population method in LoadBuilder, the "load density" is your future projection of the flow per person for each load use type. So, this method is used when you already have some data on future load/demand projections. For example you might receive this from a local agency or determine the projection of load density based on local standard methods and engineering judgement based on viewing past load/demands. This topic is covered in chapter 4.4 of our book Advanced Water Distribution Modeling and Management ("Disaggregated Projections")

If you do not have estimates of demand projections but rather you already have demand data in shapefile form that includes the actual demand values, then you may need to use a different LoadBuilder method. See the article that Sushma mentioned for an explanation of each method, to help you determine which one is best for your situation.
