Residual Pressure (Contours) not appearing and Fireflow not working

I have a model of a system. I am not sure why I am having so many problems with it. Everything else ran normally when I tried to do the Fire Flow I kept getting calculation errors. I went through the trouble shooting but still having some problems.  I need to map out the contours generated by the residual pressure (calculated) but when I try to generate them in the system nothing is drawn.

Can someone take a look at my system and let me know what I am doing wrong? Is it a setting?

  • As Scott mentioned, it would help to have more specific information on what you're seeing and a copy of the model so we can reproduce locally.

Without this, my guess is that the contours are not drawing either because auto refresh is turned off or the result field you are trying to contour does not have a value. For the latter, check individual fireflow nodes and see if a value is populated in the residual pressure field that you are trying to contour, or look at the fire flow flextable. If you are seeing no values or "N/A" there, you may not have the calculation type set to fire flow, or the fireflow run may have failed. For more help on that, see the following article and the other article mentioned in the "see also" section at the bottom of it: Why Pressure(calculated residual) field is N/A?

I had uploaded it to the secure link. Here is a copy. If you could tell me what I am doing wrong. I would appreciate it.

  • Hi Mark,

In the model you provided, the only scenario that was set up for fireflow (using calculation options with the Calculation type set to FireFlow) was "Scenario 10-Existing Average Day". However, I could not compute that scenario because of some issues with missing pump definitions.

Can you confirm that the correct model was sent and clarify the steps needed to reproduce? (which scenario, etc). If you are trying to run one of the other scenarios and wish to contour fireflow results, you will need to change the "calculation type" to "Fire Flow" in the calculation options used by that scenario (and make sure it is set to use the desired fireflow alternative.) For example if I change the "scenario 5" calculation options to fire flow, compute and check the box "pressure-residual" in the contours manager, I can see contours rendered.
