ModelBuilder

How can one manually create a new hydraulic model (lay down pipes, nodes...) using the modelBuilder without existing data source?

  • Hello Nelva,

Modelbuilder is used to import the existing data like in form of AutoCAD drawins or shapefiles so hydraulic model can be created using this external data.

Using ModelBuilder to Import External Data

Do you mean that you are creating a new model but you do not have existing data in any format prepared like autocad files, shapefiles or excel files? In that case you can apply Bing map in the background and start laying out elements manually.

But for the large models, it would be good to work in integrated platforms e.g. WaterGEMS for Microstation or WaterGEMS for AutoCAD, so using drafting tools you can layout element in a faster way.

Could you please confirm which product are you using so we can provide learning resources?

  • To add to Sushma's reply - ModelBuilder can be used with external data, but manual layout is also possible.

If you are new to WaterCAD, the following article has many learning resources to help you. This includes how to manually lay out elements using the layout tools.
