Starting my new WaterCad 8i software

I just purchased WaterCad and it won't open for me. Asks for me to sign in but when I click on the 'sign in' icon, it quits. I am registered and have a valid password. What am I doing wrong?

  • Can I get a simple icon that I can open on my computer?  I don't need the frills.  I just perform simple civil water service designs.  I just used the software on my computer with the old 8i version.  Simple and no hassle.  Used it for years and don't need anything extra.

    Thanks,

  • Hi Donald,

Your previous screenshots are showing the task bar. The CONNECTION Client is in your system tray, which is on the far bottom-right corner. You should see a small arrow pointing upward, which you can click to see the items in the system tray. Look for the CONNECTION Client icon that Rob mentioned and double click on it.

As others have mentioned, we suspect that something is preventing it from running and licensing your WaterCAD. I see from your forum replies that you have AVG antivirus. It is possible that AVG (or some other security software running on your computer) is preventing the CONNECTION Client from signing you in and licensing WaterCAD. The latest version of WaterCAD uses a new licensing methodology which relies on sign-in to the CONNECTION Client, so you will need to make sure that your computer is not preventing this from happening. Since you mentioned that the wiki article links that Scott provided did not work for you, this is also evidence that your antivirus/security software is blocking things.

I understand that Scott has spoken to you on the phone and will plan to follow up. I will also send you a private message shortly regarding technical support for Non-SELECT users.
