"No additional flow time through a link that has no flow", this message is disturbing me

Greetings, when i compute the model, this message appears at the user notification ""No additional flow time through a link that has no flow", i have even turned off the option of ignoring the pipe time travel but still it dosen't run succesfuly. I am using StormCAD CONNECT Edition Update 1, I hope somebody can help me

  • Hello,

Based on the screenshot you provided, the catchment outflow node appears to be set to the outfall. That being the case, all runoff is reported directly to the outfall and there is not flow in the conduits. The message is basically that  because there is no flow, no travel time is included in the conduits. This is related to how StormCAD models the flow in elements. This link has information on this: Flow Attenuation - Why does flow or velocity sometimes decrease as you move downstream.

If you want to see flow in the conduits, change the outflow node for the catchment to one of the catch basins, such as CB-1. You will see flow in the conduits and likely will no longer see this user notification.

    Scott

  • Greetings again,
To begin with, I really appreciate for the quick response I received from your part. So, I followed your instructions and moved my outflow node to the corresponding catch basin, but yet again the same message appears as soon as the program computes the design. I would really appreciate if you would be kind enough to could give it a brief look, it is a small project for no special purpose so it shouldn't take much time.

  • Hello Elvi,

I checked your model and the reason you are not getting any flows in the conduits is because you have set the "Use Scaled Area?" property of catchments to "False" and the "Area (User Defined) (ha)" for all catchments is 0. Since the area is zero your runoff is zero and hence your conduits do not have any flow in them.

I changed the "Use Scaled Area?" property to "True" to use the scaled area as per your setup and didn't get the user notification of "No additional flow time through a link that has no flow".

  • Hello Yashodhan

I followed your instructions and yes it actually worked, when I compute it the message doesn't appear anymore. I really appreciate the help

  • Hello,

May I ask where did you find this setting "Use Scaled Area?" property?  I can't seem to find it anywhere and I am getting the same error message.

    Thanks in advance.
