sewercad

Hi,

I design civil utilities and structures. I'm currently digging into sewercad and how beneficial the program would be for my work and i have a few questions.

1. Can extreme flow factors be applied to both gravity and pressurized systems in sewercad?

2. How do extreme flow factors work in sewercad? Does the solver recognize the unit flow in each pipe and then adjust accordingly?

3. Does sewercad model wet wells? Can it do buoyancy calculations?

  • Hello Dominic,

    See my responses to your queries below;

    1. Can extreme flow factors be applied to both gravity and pressurized systems in sewercad?

    Yes. You can use Extreme Flow Factors in your sewer modeling in SewerCAD. See the article below for details on this;

    Using Extreme Flow Factors

    2. How do extreme flow factors work in sewercad? Does the solver recognize the unit flow in each pipe and then adjust accordingly?

    You need to set the method of extreme flow setups and few multipliers. The above article provides details of the setup of extreme flow factors.

    3. Does sewercad model wet wells? Can it do buoyancy calculations?

    SewerCAD does model wet-wells. The solver used in SewerCAD is the GVF-Convex Solver which is adept at solving pressure main calculations in a sewer network. You can calculate the buoyancy force can be calculated by finding out the volume of displaced water and the unit weight of water. You can configure this as a user defined field. SewerCAD has the functionality of defining formula based user defined extensions (UDX). See the article below to know more about this;

    Creating Formula-Based User Data Extensions

    Let me know if this helps.

  • This is perfect. My only other question is can the GVF-Convex solver do pressure main and gravity sewers simultaneously? or will i need to create separate scenarios or models for the gravity and pressure mains?

  • Yes, you can have pressure and gravity sewers in the same run.
