HAMMER Update 3 - Hydropneumatic tank Extended Node Data graph shows linear continuous increase

Hello,

I am currently working in HAMMER update 3 and still having the issue referenced in this article - https://communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/23768/hydropneumatic-tank-extended-node-data-graph-shows-linear-continuous-increase.

  • Is there a way to change the default of the transient (reporting) value under the hydropneumatic tank properties or do I have to manually change that for every scenario?
  • I am looking to understand why a value of zero is defaulted if it appears to yield misleading results under extended node data for hydropneumatic tanks?  Also, does this issue exist for other element results under extended node data?  For example, pump speeds?
  • I am also not entirely sure if transient (reporting) for a hydropneumatic tank is associated with any given alternative?  I haven't been able to find that relationship to change the parent alternative for it to trickle down to the child alternatives.  I have been changing the hydropneumatic tank transient (reporting) value manually for each scenario.

I hope someone can clarify my misunderstanding.

Regards,

Youssef

  • Hello Youssef,

The Report Period field defaults as zero to help keep the size of the HAMMER output file lower. In addition, the user may want to only include report periods for select elements, like the hydropneumatic tank. It would be easier to adjust this for a handful of elements compared to adjusting it for most elements.

Regarding the location of the Report Period, it is stored in the Transient alternative. While your scenarios may not share the same alternative, if the base Transient alternative includes a Report Period for the hydropneumatic tank, the child alternatives should inherit this field, thus allowing you to keep a report period for multiple scenarios.

If you want to include a Report Period of a certain value when an element is first created, you can use the Prototype feature. This allows you to set what the default settings for an element will be.

  • Hi Scott,

Excellent tips, thank you so much for clarifying.  Have a nice day.
