Customizing the Ribbon and/or Quick Access Toolbar

Watercad 10.03.01.08 Standalone

Is it possible to customize either the ribbon or the Quick Access Toolbar?  I have searched both Help and these Forums and have not been able to find an answer.

If they cannot be modified please consider adding, as a minimum, the capability of modfying the Quick Access Toolbar to allow inclusion of standard commands.  For instance, to show contours I have to click on either the "Analysis" or "View" tabs, then click on "Contours".  If the "Contours" command could be included on the Quick Access Toolbar it would save time, plus not having to remember which tab contains the command you want.

  • Hello Gary,

    Currently the Quick Access toolbar has limited customization such as "Save As", "Find Element" etc. and does not support all the available tools in WaterCAD. However, to find a particular tool quickly you could always use the "Search Ribbon" and just type in the name of the Tool. For example if I type in "Contours" and press Enter it will directly open the Contours dialog box. This way you don't have to remember which tab to navigate to find a particular tool. The Search Box also shows you the path of the tool and where it is located. Often a tool could be located on the Home tab as well as some other tab. If you click on any of the paths it would take you straight to the tool. Pressing Enter just selects the first path and takes you to the tool. See more about this in the below article;

    Let me know if this helps.

  • Thank you.  Your answer confirmed what I suspected.

    As far as using the Search bar, the whole objective of the Quick Access Toolbar is to minimize keystrokes. Positioning the cursor in the Search bar and then typing in the first few letters of the command does not accomplish that.

    I suggest that Bentley explore adding expanded customization of the Quick Access Toolbar (as Word and Excel do).
